About Me

My name is Brandon Le Burkien and I am a movement specialist. To me, the human body is a complicated puzzle and navigating it through life is a complex task. Fortunately, I love puzzles and I love helping people adapt to their life's challenges.

After watching the Disney movie, "Brink", I became a competitive rollerblader. I always jumped off of furniture and playgrounds at a young age but rollerblading is where I discovered the sensation of jumping, twisting, sliding, and even falling well without any conscious effort. I later learned that this phenomena is called being in a flow state. For ten years my friends and I pushed the boundaries of what we could jump over, the technicality of our tricks, and the creativity we developed in our movement styles.

It wasn't long before Bruce Lee taught me that weight training enhances explosiveness. Rollerblading led me to the gym where I entered an entirely new arena. Here I learned how to train myself to move more efficiently where I became quicker and stronger. Lifting weights seemed to be inherent for me and I found my friends turning to me for advice on how to lift. Naturally, this sparked my desire to become a personal trainer.

Over the past twenty years I have worked as a personal trainer and strength coach. With a strong desire to learn, I have completed almost every personal training certification out there. In my early years I fell in love with body building because I wanted to outgrow my skinny teenage skater phase. Certifications became dull and when I attended the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI) I was enthralled with balance training and metabolic testing which took my training to the next level. Thanks to my professor at NPTI, I ran my first (and only) 5k and won first place. While the science of actively teaching your body how to use fat for fuel while simultaneously increasing your endurance really drew me in, running just was not it for me.

After earning my diploma from NPTI I took a job at my first strength and conditioning gym. This is where I discovered the sport of Olympic Weightlifting. Just upon viewing my coworkers perform the clean and jerk I was immediately hooked. Fast forward ten years and I had coached both state and national level weightlifters who have earned both state and national titles.

As much as I loved the sport of weightlifting, injury was not uncommon. Luckily I had not sustained any during my weightlifting career (injuries in other sports are a different story). My desire to better understand my body and what it needed within these explosive movements gave me a lifting career that was very robust in mind-body connection and feeling as if my body was supercharged when nailing the technique of a heavy, heavy lift. I did however work with more and more clients who were not quite ever supercharged but rather lived on pain meds. People with pathologies like Parkinson's, individuals who experienced traumatic car accidents, and some people with chronic illness started training with me. The way each one of these people moved was all new to me. While I make it a priority to continue to ask questions and learn to best ensure the people I work with are safe, I realized I have way more to learn if I can say that I can help anyone move better. After a lot of research into different fields, I realized physical therapy would give me the best shot at mastering the human body and helping people work through movement dysfunction and direct their recovery through pain and pathology.

Now in my twenty-first year of personal training and coaching, and in my fourth year practicing as a Physical Therapist, I have refined my education to a point where I created the School of Movement! This school is designed to educate people who cannot move as well as they would like, both with their body weight and with weight training, to learn how to organize their body well enough to perform tasks effortlessly.

Join me in learning how to master your body so you may enhance your bodies natural abilities to perform acts of daily living, learn new skills, and hit new records all while reducing your pain and acquiring effortless movement.
